Evidence I Found Supporting a Creator

Symmetry within Life

For me, this hands down proves the existence of a creator. When an object posses symmetry, you do NOT get this by accident or thru any random process.

Lets look at the human eye. In itself I find them amazing. It would be a “miracle” if it formed by accident, but you have two of them, both positioned symmetrically on your face. That’s a “Miracle^2”

This symmetry extends thru your entire body. Your left arm/hand/leg/foot is a mirror image of the right side. The joints are identical but are reversed in operation. You NEVER see this in a random generated processes. You only see this when its been designed by someone/something.

In my journey of learning, I came across an astronomical discovery called Hamiltons Object. This object is a “mirror image” of a galaxy cluster deep in space, discovered my Timothy Hamilton in 2013 via the Hubble Space Telescope. This was only considered for review due to its symmetrical appearance, for symmetry is NOT common in the cosmoses. After several years of theory, they figured out gravitational lensing was the reason. Even though they can’t identify the mass behind it, they know it must be there.

I find it strange when we see symmetry in the night sky, we pause to investigate, but when we see symmetry all around us here on earth, some will claim it was created via random process and natural selection, leaving God out.

Life is In the Blood

During my time reading the bible, I find a passage in Leviticus 17:11 stating … “the life of the flesh is in the blood.” Took me some time to fully grasp the importance of this passage.

I will start by looking at just one cell all by itself. Assuming this is possible, this single cell can grab nutrients from the environment and dispense its waste also to this environment. Its only dependent on itself .

The problem gets more complicated once you start packing cells together, the one in the middle cannot access what is needed and it may poison the surrounding cells if it discharges waste carelessly. Now you need some internal piping-system to carry the supply and waste particles to the inner cells. This makes the inner cell dependent on this. Without it, it will die.

Design Requirements: this piping system, needs to

  • Reach all cells in the body, cant miss one or it dies.

    • For an average adult, the total length of capillaries, arteries and veins is nearly 100,000 miles. That’s four times around Earth’s equator. WOW that’s a lot

  • Pumps blood in a continuous loop, no dead ends.

  • Flexible, moves as body moves

  • Grows as body grows

  • Handles stress of daily life, can’t rupture when you get excited.

  • Heals when broken, Needs to repair itself or cells will die.

That’s quite a comprehensive list to be fulfilled by accident.

Dual Mechanism, Knee Joint

The Knee joint is an amazing Mechanism. It consists of a Cam mechanism and a 4-bar link mechanism combined. Most 4-year undergraduate Mechanical Engineers have designed at least one 4-bar mechanism. In their design, you quickly find the lengths of bars define the motion and its challenging to determine their correct lengths. If one combines this with a cam mechanism where they both work together, the complexity is quite high to where a computer program would be needed.

So, how did this form? I do not see it forming by accident.

Complexity of the Cell

The complexity of the human cell has been described as a small city. I am not a biologist, so I can only grasp a small amount on what going on here.

Astronomers Fred Hoyle and Chandra Wickramasinghe calculated the chance of getting all enzymes needed for a cell at 1 in 10^40,000. This number is unimaginably high. The total believed number of atoms in the universe is much smaller at 10^82. This means your odds at selecting one correct atom within our total universe is more probable than a cell forming from chance. I think this forces me to believe in a creator.

Another amazing man who helped me understand how hard to create a cell in a lab with todays technology is Dr. James Tour. He described how complicated this problem is in this Video. I found it interesting, I encourage all to watch, even if your already a believer. Dr. Tour mentions the “polymer stability problem,” a single molecule of RNA lasting only 4hrs in a clean water solution and less than a few minutes when metal ions are present. The “protein folding problem,” where protein functions properly only when folded correctly, but are folded by using existing proteins.

Two books helped me understand this complex subject.

  • The Design and Complexity of the Cell, describing the minimum gene set needed for proper function

    • DNA replication, repair, restriction, modification

    • Transcription Machinery

    • Aminoacyl-tRNA synthesis

    • tRNA maturation and modification

    • Ribosomal proteins

    • Ribosome function, maturation, modification

    • Translation factors

    • RNA degradation

    • Proteins processing, folding secretion

    • Cellular division transport

    • Metabolism (the parts needed for this)

    • Amino acids, 20 of them

  • Signature in the cell

Reliability and Adaptability

I would love to design a machine that lasts more than 20 years.

Our complex bodies have the ability to repair themselves. When we get injured, the blood clotting system is over 28 steps, this thing triggers this, which triggers this and so on to generate a blood clot to close the wound. Then the healing process. How does something heal itself? where is the information stored to repair a broken bone? I don’t know, but its there and I don’t see this as an accident.

We all start out small, as we grow, this process MUST happen for all parts of our body. You can’t have your bones growing faster than your skin. You can’t have your brain staying the same size and your skill increase, things would bounce around in there…

As a Mechanical Engineer, in order for things to last longer than 10 year, you need to plan for it. Whether you believe in God or evolution, its undeniable that life has existed for thousands of years without needing any hardware or software update. I find that amazing.
